Engaging Communities

  • For Public Education Network, Collaborative developed an interactive Guide to CHIP. The guide helps local education funds and other community organizations improve children's access to healthcare through the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Three sections - Advocacy, Outreach, and Catalyst for Change - contain background information and tools for action.
  • Collaborative wrote Communities at Work, which is a guidebook on the work of local education funds and accompanying resources for strategic interventions for community change. Read about the strategic interventions or download a PDF version of the book.
  • Collaborative has looked into the new relationships between community-based organizations to learn more about what motivates citizens to work on public education issues. Read our study with in-depth case studies on the work of three organizations.
  • Collaborative offers strategic consulting and design expertise to the Public Education Network ’s Schools and Community Initiative, which looks at ways to encourage community ownership and involvement in their schools. Read more about the local education funds working in this initiative to create greater community responsibility for ensuring all children, especially those furthest from meeting standards, achieve at high levels.
